Pont Neuilly (P.-C.

Paraggi (6) – Lykastos (3) – Ezpeletako (7) – Pont Neuilly (5) – Windsea (16)

Angne) stehen. Betty Lou (A. Helfenbein/M.

Mega-Aufgebot in Nancy

The Toyboy (F. Mi ... mehr…

Walenty (St. Hellyn) lief in Bremen gleich sehr ansprechend. Gewinnen kann Lovato (A. Starke/P. Blue Diamond (A. Best/M. Ilek (A. Pietsch/W.

Hefter), Gylata (A. Pietsch/W. Hickst), Raindrops On Roses (F. Minarik/M. Münch) und Pretty Luna (B. Flandrin/H. Grewe), kann an einem guten Tag überraschen.

Aktuelle Formen bringt auch das Trio im 5. Rennen um 14:05 Uhr (16.000 Euro-Handicap, 1.950 m)  - Musikverein (F. Minarik/H. Hesse), Ange d‘ Azur (M. Berto/W.

Darioush (A. Pietsch/W. Grewe).

Caufield (A. Lemaitre/W. Thirsty Bear (D. Porcu/M. Rotering) ist eher auf Sand zu Hause. Spellbound (A. Coutier/M. Münch) und Piazza Verde (D. Breux/W. Hefter) sind nur Außenseiter und stehen unter Winning Impact (M. Berto/W. Hefter).

Hualapai (M. Seidl/W. Gülcher) lief beim ersten Start für ihren neuen Trainer noch blass, was auch für Gaelic Way (A. Best/C. Barsig) gilt. Saba Dancer (D. Porcu/M. Rotering) ist auf diesen Strecken im Element. Die beiden Brandstätter Schützlinge Queen’s Hussar (M. Pecheur) und Bebido (A. Coutier) rangieren unter Solar Power (M. Berto/W. Hefter), der sich einem Sieg nähert. Gymara (St. Hellyn/W. Hickst) kündigte sich hier wieder an.

Tipps für die Rennen:

1.Rennen: Virtus d‘ Estruval (3) – D‘ Or a La Motte (2) – Vareck (4) – Ulbery (1)

2.Rennen: Lovato (4) – Blue Diamond (6) – Walenty (3) – Ilek (11)

3.Rennen: Star des Planches (4) – Umbrella Roque (8) – Adelaide Square (12) – Grammatiste (14)

4.Rennen: Sandy’s Choice (5) – Falcolina (2) – Sea Interlude (3) – Okto des Mottes (6)

5.Rennen: Sagamana (1) – Golden Club (5) – Maria Kristina (6) – Killustry Fancy (13)

6.Rennen: That’s Crazy (3) – Yagulin (1) – Darioush (2) – Alasdair (4)

7.Rennen: Zalata (8) – Jack Sparrow (6) – Charles Darwin (4) – Caufield (1)

8.Rennen: Solar Power (11) – T Kers (1) – Zaungast (4) – Gymara (12) – Saba Dancer (9)

HIGHVELD SAND CHALLENGE (Listed) - Straight fight between TAPTAP MAKHATINI and UNCLE TOMMY

The first of a host of Gauteng features this week looks to be a contest between TAPTAP MAKHATINI and UNCLE TOMMY. Both horses drop in class and their current form must be totally respected. Last time out, the Sean Tarry trained TAPTAP MAKHATINI found a good finish to win the Riverside handicap over shorter at this track. He has an impressive record this course and distance where he has won four of his six starts. His latest start was his first run in six months and would have needed that run. He should strip fitter this afternoon and is certainly the one to beat. Jockey Piere Strydom has piloted him to four of his six wins and the yard is bang in form, as they always are, at the time of the big races in the main centres of the country.

UNCLE TOMMY returns from a brief spell in Durban where he won one from four races, two of which were on the polytrack. His latest run was not his best of those four, but he has run well this course and distance. Jockey Marco Van Rensburg has ridden him once and that was when he made the trip to Greyville, the night he won on the polytrack. Last time they met was in September where UNCLE TOMMY finished ahead of TAPTAP MAKHATINI by over six lengths. TAPTAP MAKHATINI is 5kg worse off but looks to be ready to make further improvement.

Trainer Mike De Kock sends out OLYMPIC BOLT who takes on stronger but can count himself unlucky last time as the jockey lost his rein briefly. Can run into the money.

Others that may sneak stake money are THE ROYAL RUMBA and GREEN ROCK

QUEEN OF THE SAND (Listed) - AHLAAM impressed in win last time against weaker

Don't be fooled by the rise in class of the Mike De Kock trained AHLAAM as most of the horses in with chances in this field are also up in class from last time. Her latest win was an impressive one and she warrants the utmost respect. Top jockey, Johnny Geroudis made a return to riding in this country from a long and successful stint riding in Mauritius when he partnered AHLAAM to that comfortable win last time  over this course and  distance. Always handily placed she ran on well to win by almost eight lengths.

Trainer Corne Spies has been in good form this past month and he has won his fair share of features in both Gauteng and KZN. Despite not being certain to get the trip,  FIRE DANCING  comes into this race with a huge drop in class and a light mass of 50kg. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that she could cause an upset in this race, were she to see out the extra.

ROYAL TRIP has won three from four at this track. The TRIPPI progeny has been having success at feature race level in recent times. She was a surprise winner last time, even after a slow start. One to respect.

JULIE DOOLITTLE is one of only a few fillies in this race who step down in class. This daughter of HORSE CHESTNUT has a decent record to date and has a definite money chance in this field.

FIRE WHEEL has been disappointing of late but has a small chance on her penultimate run. Of course it will be foolish to ignore trainer Sean Tarry and jockey S'Manga Khumalo.

Race 1, Dirt, 1,200 m, Maiden Claiming $7.5k, $7,800, 20:15 CEST

#9 Homemade Chile
showed the best efforts in training already last year as 2-year-old and could win his debut

#3 Ocean Alarm earned money in his last 4 starts, some in higher class, fast workouts after a long layoff

#2 Oklahoma Warrior was no factor in higher class; with today’s more successful jockey he should be noted

#1 Stormy Nome and #4 C P Elm Springs finished 4th and 5th at this level, both could have improved their stamina

Analysis: Homemade Chile was trained extensively for his debut, but Ocean Alarm showed similar fast workouts, so both got a winning chance in this weak field

Race 2,
Dirt, 1 Mile, Claiming $7.5-10k, $11,500, 20:43 CEST

#9 Smoke Town finished 4th in allowance class after a victory in a sprint race; outer post is an issue

#3 Storm Around
won 3 out of 4 starts lower class in Delta Downs, good post for his stalking tactic

#5 Lil R'slast
won recently in lower class on a preferred soft surface in a remarkable fast time

#2 You're Joking
finished recently 3rd and was claimed; his new trainer hired a top jockey for today

#7 Paris Pike won after a 4 month break in lower class wire to wire; needs the lead to win

#8 Green Digger
nearly always conquers the lead and defended 4 times in a row 3rd and 4th places in much higher class, but he didn’t race more than 11 month and got an outer post; nice workouts since February

Analysis: Smoke Town is the best on paper, but needs a bit of luck to find an early good position from outside; some strong beginners will set a high pace, which benefits Storm Around

Race 3,
Dirt, 1 Mile, Maiden Claiming $7.5k, $6,500, 21:11 CEST

#6 Popgoestheweasel
was runner-up after a layoff despite running in wide lanes and drifting in the stretch

#9 Will's Money was beaten far as 4th, she was the favorite because of her nice series of top places in Remington Park; outer post is not a big deal for the good closer

#1 Scandia is a sluggish beginner, but mostly earns money with her good finish, never threatened the winner

#2 Uptown Sharonbrown got good speed, but she always competed in sprint races and eased in her first start after the layoff

Analysis:  Popgoestheweasel showed the best recent effort and got a winning chance despite the so-so jockey

Race 4, Dirt, 1,000 m, Claiming $5k, $7,500, 21:39 CEST

#7 Abella won last spring 2 out of her 3 starts; since then he didn’t race, but impressed with his recent workouts

#6 Perfect Gem was runner-up after a 3 month break; the frontrunner should like today’s shorter distance

#9 Sparkling Ruler earned 3 times some small prize money in slightly higher class in Oaklawn Park; closer

#5 Graeme's Intrigue was recently runner-up; switches to top jockey in his 3rd start after her layoff

Analysis: Abella was always strong in higher class after her layoffs and should win considering her fast workouts

Race 5, Dirt, 1,100 m, Maiden Claiming $15k, $12,600, 22:07 CEST

#1 Fast Chance attacked in 4-wide in the turn and finished 3rd two lengths behind Ladron; the good beginner should benefit from much better post today

#6 Ladron
pressured the leaders in 3-wide and missed just by a neck; big improvement compared to previous starts

#3 Don'tgetflustered attacked early in the curve in 4-wide and eased at the end, about 4 lengths behind Ladron

#7 Rackumback Swifty should be the best debutant, considering his workouts and the good jockey

Analysis: Fast Chance was beaten as favorite, but with the better post position,  he should have a nicer trip today
